CAS AFL Opens Team Announced

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected in the CAS Opens AFL team.

Training and match schedule

ALL players MUST attend the training session.

Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the squad.

Monday June 24 –            Training from 4pm to 5.30pm at JUBILEE OVAL 2 Northcote Rd, Glebe NSW 2037

Wednesday June 26        Kick off will be at 2:45pm. Riverview College to arrive at 1:45pm for jumper presentation and team photo match kick off at 2:45pm. An after-match function will follow the game.

The first CAS Volleyball representative team squad has been announced.

The following players are required for training on Mon June 24th at 4pm and the final team of 12 (which will be selected after the Monday training session) on Tues June 25th at 4pm. Both sessions will be at Trinity Grammar School.

Congratulations to all players.

The match will take place on Thursday June 27 and will be hosted by GPS at Sydney Grammar School at 4pm.All players are asked to download the information form and bring the signed part to training Download here.

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to trial for the CAS U16 Rugby team.

The CAS U16 trail day will be held at Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Club Woollahra Oval O’Sullivan Rd, Bellevue Hill NSW 2023 on Thursday June 6th from 1pm to 4pm. The trials will take the form of skills tests and a game. Players will be scored on each of the skills test and be given a rating on their game performance. Players will be able to access this information after the trial.

Players are asked to trial in school shorts and socks you will be provided with a jersey to trial in on the day (and it is to be returned at the end of the day).

NO METAL STUDS ARE TO BE WORN.

MOULDED OR NON METAL STUDS ONLY FOR THE TRIAL.

After the trial, the final squad of 25 plus shadows will be selected for the U16 NSW school boys’ trials. The team will be listed on the CAS website on the evening of June 22rd.

At the CIS U16 and Open football trials CAS has dominated not losing a single game in either the U16s or Opens. The great results lead to strong representation in the CIS teams.

Game 1 vs GPS (0 – 0) Draw

CAS U16 vs CSSA 3-0 Win

The CAS boys could not have had a better start of the game , after 2 minutes Lucas Van Der Scheur scored from a solo run. He received the ball on half way and beat three or four players to put CAS 1-0 up.

The CSSA boys had more possession of the ball but didn’t threaten the CAS goal, A well organised CAS defence kept control at all times denying CSSA opportunities on goal. Substitutions were made at half time boosting our team and we went on to have many more scoring opportunities. The final whistle saw CAS win the game comfortably 3-0 with a brilliant team performance.

CAS U16 vs AICES 2-0 Win

A competitive match between two equally matched teams. The AICES started the game strongly dominating possession which produced some good chances. CAS were coming to grips with their 1-4-2-2-2 formation. CAS boys replied after the 1^st 10 minutes launching quick and dangerous counterattacks however both teams went into half time locked at 0-0 . Fortunately the 2^nd half had a very different outcome. The CAS boys were able to control the quick and technical AICES players and started to dominate the match. As a result Andrea Esposito scored a bomb from just outside the area . AICES did not give up and  pushed hard to get the equaliser but left themselves open in transition CAS took advantage of the space with a perfectly executed counterattack towards the end of the game.

The CAS boys finished the tournament with two wins from two games. They should be congratulated on their performances.

Due to the weather conditions today (30/3/19) cross country event has been cancelled

CAS lost both 1sts and 2nds to GPS last night at the Kings School.

2nds played hard and narrowed the lead that GPS had established but could not close it and ended up loosing 73 to 65. Click here for the scoresheet

VALE KENNETH TO
It is again with great sadness that we acknowledge another loss in our swimming community with Kenneth To, passing away on 19 March, aged 26.
Kenneth represented Trinity Grammar, CAS, NSW CIS and NSW All Schools on many occasions and is a CIS and All Schools record holder. He went on after school to represent Australia and more recently Hong Kong. He was a wonderful ambassador for his school , his sport and CIS.

Swimming NSW acknowledged the loss of Kenneth To, with the following fitting tribute:
Kenneth will be remembered as much for his results in the pool, as well as being the true gentlemen he was outside of it.
Achieving results was a key focus for Kenneth, however, he always made sure he was there to support the team and was loved by all his teammates. His work ethic was second to none and was inspirational to all those who trained with him.
Kenneth proudly supported his School, Club, State and Australia and trained under Coach Matthew Brown at Trinity Grammar School for the majority of his swimming career. He was a multiple Australian Record Holder and still holds the Australian Short Course Record in the 100m and 200m Individual Medley. In 2009, he came into the swimming spotlight when he broke Ian Thorpe’s decade-old Australian record in the 16 Years 200m Individual Medley, swimming a time of 2.04.31 and went on to win multiple National Championships as an age group swimmer.
Kenneth burst onto the international scene in 2010 at the Summer Youth Olympics and Junior Pan Pacific Championships.
Although, one of his proudest achievements would come later that year when he became Australia Dolphin 705 to represent Australia at the 2010 FINA World Short Course Championships.
The following year, Kenneth was selected onto the Australian Team once again to compete at the 2011 FINA World
Championships. In 2012, he narrowly missed selection onto the London Olympic Games team, but went on to be crowned Men’s Overall Winner in the 2012 FINA World Cup Series. That same year, Kenneth won Silver in the 100m Individual Medley at the FINA World Short Course Championships. In 2013 he again represented Australia at the FINA World Championships and in 2014 was selected onto the Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships Teams.
At his peak, Kenneth was arguably, pound for pound, one of the best short course swimmers in the world, his power at the start and skills across all four strokes were difficult to match.
Everyone who ever met Kenneth will have fond memories of the time they spent with him and he will be mourned across the swimming community worldwide.
Our love and deepest sympathy are with Kenneth’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

CAS had a dominant night at the Basketball on Thursday winning both games against AICES.
