Vale: Trevor McCaskill, 6th Head of Barker College

Please see the following announcement from Barker on the Death of Trevor McCaskill.

Vale Trevor McCaskill, 6th Head of Barker College
1927 – 2022

The Barker College community was saddened to learn last week of the passing of one of Barker’s distinguished and longest serving Headmasters, Mr Trevor McCaskill, at the age of 95.

Trevor was Barker’s 6th Headmaster from 1963 – 1986, a significant period in the School’s history. Under his inspiration and leadership, Trevor led Barker College to become the first independent school in Sydney to introduce coeducation.

He had a great vision for the School and in his 23 years as Headmaster, Barker doubled in size from 660 students in 1963 to 1400 students in 1986.   Extensive refurbishments in the Junior School and the building of new Science laboratories were also completed during his tenure.

Trevor leaves an outstanding legacy to Barker and the School is in the strong position it is today, because of his extraordinary leadership and foresight.

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Trevor’s family.  Several of his children and grandchildren attended Barker and we hold his family in our prayers at this difficult time.

In accordance with his family’s wishes, Trevor’s funeral will be a private family one. The School has commenced planning for a Thanksgiving Service to be held at Barker on Sunday 28th August 2022 at 2pm in the Barker War Memorial Chapel, 91 Pacific Hwy, Hornsby.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.  Timothy 4:7-8

CAS U16 Rugby Win The Martin Pitt Shield

The CAS U16s Rugby team has won the Martin Pitt Shield for the first time since 2014 at the NSW Schools Rugby Union Trial tournament. In what was a very close final CAS defeat GPS A 24 to 21. A long range penalty to CAS gave them the lead which they then had to defend for 3 minutes under huge pressure from GPS.

Well done to the team and the coaching staff.
