Steven Barnett Shield
Steven Barnett was a student at Trinity Grammar from 1991-1995 (1997 Alumni) who excelled at Diving. The diving reports in ‘The Triangle’ had the following info: In 1994 he won the Intermediate and open CAS competition. He won the 1 metre, 3 metre and tower competitions at the NSW, Metropolitan and Australian Championships, and was selected to train for the Olympics. In 1995 he represented CAS in the CIS Diving Shield. He won the Intermediate Division ‘leaving all opposition in his wake’
Diving events were originally included within the CAS Swimming Championships program from 1933.
The first separate CAS Annual Diving Championships was held in 1981 at Warringah Aquatic Centre. From 1981 points gained by each school at the Diving Championships were added the Annual CAS Swimming Championships point score. This no longer the case and the diving has its own separate points score for the Shield.
From 1981-2002 the CAS Diving Championships were held separately to the CAS Swimming Championships.
From 2003 the CAS Diving Championship has been held on the same day and at the same location as the Swimming Championships. The diving program of events is included at the back of the official swimming championships program booklet.
